Broncos to Face Vandals in First Match of 2009 WAC Volleyball Tournament

► What's Happening - Boise State volleyball is headed to Las Vegas, Nev., to participate in the 2009 Western Athletic Conference volleyball tournament held at the Orleans Arena. This is the first year the tournament is played at a neutral site as well as the first time it has been in a six-team format. The Broncos enter the tournament as the No. 6-seed and will face No. 3-seeded Idaho in a 6:00 pm (MT) match on Monday, Nov. 23.

► Bronco Tournament Central - Fans can follow the Broncos and their trip to the tournament on the Bronco Tournament Central. It is available at www.broncosports.com under the volleyball tab. There fans can find information on the tournament, results, ticket prices, player blogs and tournament photo galleries.

► Ticket Prices - Tickets for all sessions will be available for $45, single session adult tickets are $20, single session students/youth are $10 and kids 2-and-under are free.

► Record Watch - A handful of Broncos continue to make history in the record books, with juniors Sadie Maughan and Alisha Young leading the way. Maughan makes her first appearance on the total career blocks chart with 284.0 career blocks, knocking out Julie Kaulius (1994-97). Maughan holds the No. 4 spot for all-time career points with 798.0 (No. 3 is 802.0 points). Young sits in No. 5 with 747.0 career points. This is since the inception of rally scoring (and point scoring) in 2001.

Maughan and Young also moved up after the Idaho match in the single season total points record books with Maughan holding the No. 7 spot presently with 326.0 points this season. Young sits at No. 9 with 319.0 points.

Lauren Hamm sits at a tie for ninth in the all-time career digs category, hitting the 1,010 career digs mark. She shares the No. 9 spot with Chris Bond (1987-90) and is 14 digs away from No. 8 all-time.

Looking at Boise State...
► In General - The Broncos earned the No. 6-seed in the 2009 WAC Tournament after falling to Idaho, 3-0, in their most recent match on Thursday, Nov. 19. The Broncos move to a 7-21 overall record with a 7-9 conference record. It's the best conference record ever for the Broncos while in the WAC as well as the best conference record since 1998 when the team went 11-5 in the Big West (finished in 2^nd-place in the East Division).

► Quick Look at the Broncos - The Broncos are led by Alisha Young in kills with 271 on the season, while Sadie Maughan is just behind with 267 kills. Maughan holds the leading mark in hitting percentage this season with .248 as well as most team points with 326.0 points and blocks with 106.0 total this season. Breann Nesselhuf leads the team's assists category with 872this season, while Jeanene Rose has collected 21 service aces to lead the team. Amanda Remy leads the team in digs with 288.

An Overview: Boise State vs. Idaho...
► The Series - The series between Boise State and Idaho is a long all-time series dating back to 1976 with Idaho holding a 47-27 lead over the Broncos. In their last meeting, Idaho defeated Boise State, 3-0, on Nov. 19, 2009 in Moscow, Idaho, however, Boise State defeated Idaho 3-1 in Bronco Gym on Oct. 12, 2009. The Broncos broke a 13-match win-streak by the Vandals with their Oct. 12 win.
 
► About Idaho - The Vandals are led by Sarah Conwell in the kills category with 398 on the season while Anna McKinney leads the team in hitting percentage with .272 on the season. Conwell also leads the team in points with 464.0 this season while McKinney leads in blocks with 151.0 this year. Katie Tribley leads in sets with 730 as well as service aces with 26 while Meredith Rice has a team-high of 436 digs on the season.
