DENVER - Bosie State’s Troy Merritt has been named the Western Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week for March 17-23.

Merritt, a senior from Fridley, Minn. (Winona State), defended his title at the Ron Moore Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz., March 21-23, with a school record 16-under 200. He was the first round leader after posting a 6-under 66 and followed that up with a 65 and a 69 to win by six strokes. He led all individuals with 19 birdies and was 10-under on par-4s. His score helped Boise State to a fourth-place finish in the 15-team field. Merritt broke his own three-round school record of 203 set at last year’s Ron Moore Invitational. This was Merritt’s third victory of the season and fourth of his career.
