Ryan Hellenthal enters his second season at Boise State as he joined the men’s basketball staff as the school’s first ever Director of Basketball Operations. At Boise State, Hellenthal serves as the associate director for Boise State’s boy’s basketball camps, while handling film exchange, on campus recruiting, recruiting correspondence, academics and various administrative duties. At Coffeyville, Hellenthal served as the program's recruiting coordinator and lead assistant compiling a 90-19 record while finishing third in the country in 2007, and seventh in the country in 2006. From 2005 to 2007 the Ravens were a combined 66-10, winning the Jayhawk Conference both seasons, as well as the Region 6 championship. All three seasons Hellenthal was on the coaching staff at Coffeyville the program was ranked in the top 25 nationally. While at Coffeyville, Hellenthal also served as the Jayhawk Shootout Coordinator, the largest junior college showcase in the country. Before joining Coffeyville, Hellenthal was an assistant coach at Garden City Community College from 2002-05 where the team averaged 20 wins per season and won its first Jayhawk West Conference championship since 1952. He started his career as a student assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1998-2002. He assisted in opponent preparation including scouting of opponents, film breakdown and development of game strategies. Hellenthal is a 2002 graduate of the University of Illinois-Chicago with a Bachelors degree in kinesiology.
