Morgan Shepherd returns to Boise State for his sixth season as an assistant with the men’s tennis program. Under the leadership of Shepherd and Head Coach Greg Patton, the Broncos have captured the Western Athletic Conference championship in three of his five seasons (2005-07). Shepherd was named the ITA Region’s Assistant Coach of the Year in both 1999 and 2006. He served as the executive director of the Idaho Tennis Association from 1999 to 2004. Shepherd graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1993 with a bachelor’s in psychology. Upon graduation, he served as an assistant tennis coach with U.C. Santa Cruz. Shepherd then moved on to Pomona-Pitzer College where he was the head coach of the men’s team from 1994-97 and the head coach of the women’s team from 1996-97. During his tenure the men’s team ranked as high as 11th to end the season and the women finished ninth among NCAA Division III programs. He has served as a private instructor at the junior ranks and coached numerous athletes into the national rankings. He came to Boise in 1997 and served as an assistant coach with the men’s (1997-98) and women’s (1998-99) teams before returning as the men’s assistant coach in 2004. |
