CLEVELAND - The National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) will present Boise State's Bob Madden, Associate Athletic Director - Fundraising for the Bronco Athletic Association (BAA), with the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award, Friday (June 14).
The award will be presented at the Learfield Sport Directors' Cup Luncheon, held in conjunction with the 48th Annual NACDA Convention at the World Center Marriott Resort in Orlando, Fla.
"On behalf of NAADD, I want to congratulate Bob on being named this year's NAADD Lifetime Achievement Award winner and being a leader in our industry," stated NAADD President Stephen Ponder, senior executive associate AD for external relations at the University of Mississippi. "We look forward to recognizing Bob for his accomplishments at the 2013 NAADD Convention."
Madden just completed his 33rd year in athletics development at Boise State University. He has served as the executive director of the BAA through 2012. Currently as associate AD for fundraising, he focuses on soliciting financial support for capital projects and the scholarship endowment program.
During Madden's tenure, Boise State Athletics has dramatically increased its fundraising efforts in the areas of memberships, sport enhancements, scholarship endowments, capital campaigns and targeted special events. He has helped raise financial support for eight multi-million dollar capital projects. During this same period, he played an integral role in growing the scholarship endowment fund from $30,000 to $15,400,000.
Since 1983, Madden has helped coordinate the bi-annual Boise State Scholarship Auction. To date, that event has netted $4,365,000 through 15 auctions.
A native of Caldwell, Idaho, Madden joined the Bronco staff after serving as Assistant Director of the Beaver Club at Oregon State University. He started his development career as the first women's athletic fundraiser at OSU. While at Oregon State, Madden also served a 10-week internship at the NCAA's national headquarters studying the organization's overall operations.
Prior to his position at OSU, he spent five years as Director of Financial Aid and Placement at the College of Idaho. He received his undergraduate degree at the College of Idaho and graduate degrees at Oregon State University, Idaho State University and the University of Idaho.
In 1987 he qualified for CFRE certification through the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE). In 1993, he was selected as the Athletic Fundraiser of the Year by the National Conference for Athletic Fund Raising and was honored by the Idaho Chapter of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals as their Development Executive of the Year in 2001. Madden also served as the 2005-06 NAADD President.
