2017-18: CROSS COUNTRY- Impressive season for the lone true freshman to appear on the men’s side for Boise State . . . A scorer in four-out-of-five meets he competed in . . . The Mountain West Men’s Freshman of the Year after finishing in 29th (Oct. 27) . . . Boise State’s No. 3 runner in his first NCAA Championship experience, finishing as the 11th freshman in the field in 113th (Nov. 18) . . . Crucial No. 3 scorer for Boise State at the West Region Championships, running 30:16.6 for the first 10k of his career (Nov. 10) . . . No. 2 runner for Boise State at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in 83rd (Oct. 13) . . . Made his collegiate debut at the Greater Louisville Classic, finishing as the No. 5 Bronco in 24:39.57 for 8k (Sept. 30) . . . INDOOR- Competed in both the 3,000m and 5,000m at the conference championship, taking 16th in the 5,000m, and 18th in the 3,000m (Feb. 22-24) . . . Ran a personal best in 8:17.28 in the 3,000m at the 2018 Husky Classic (Feb. 9-10) . . . Made his indoor track debut in the mile at the Bronco Invitational (Jan. 20), running 4:21.65 for ninth. The 2016 Men’s Cross Country Oregon Sports Award recipient, Ahmed Muhumed, compiled quite the cross country resume while competing at West Salem HS. The highlights of his cross country prep accomplishments came in the form of back-to-back titles at the Oregon 6A Cross Country State Championships. He also took 13th at the Nike Northwest Regional and finished eighth at the Nike Oregon-Washington Border Clash. Muhumed’s best season on the track came in 2016 when he took third in both the 1,500m and 3,000m at the state championships, running career-best times (3:52.44 and 8:25.87) on both occasions.
