Derrick Jackson enters his second season as Boise State's track and field graduate assistant coach after working one year (2010) as a volunteer coach with the team.

Prior to Boise State, Jackson was a member of the track and field team at Northern Arizona University under Coach Hardy. There he competed in the short sprints and relays for the Lumberjacks, as well as serving as a team captain for two years.

In his four-year career as a Lumberjack, Jackson was a four-time All-Big Sky First-Team honoree, as well as a two-time second-team honoree. He was also a participant of the 2008 NCAA West Region Championships, competing for NAU on the 4x100-meter relay team.

A solid student-athlete, Jackson was an eight-time Big Sky All-Academic honoree.

Jackson earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Arizona in 2010.
