STANFORD, Calif. - Boise State finished day two of the Stanford Invitational Saturday afternoon with Matt Post placing seventh in the hammer throw (193-07 / 59m). Post was the only Bronco to compete Saturday on a weekend where five of his other 10 teammates that competed Friday set career bests in their respective events.
Marisa Howard picked up a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter section four race when she clocked a 16:24.18. Howard beat her career-best time by more than 16 seconds to lead the Broncos to their best finish of the day on Friday. In the same race, Tessa Murray finished in seventh place with a time of 16:29.11.
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase section one race, Zach Wiles crossed the line at 8:45.96 to earn fourth place, while teammate Allan Schroeder finished close behind at 8:47.56 to claim fifth place. Each time set career bests for Wiles and Schroeder.
David Elliott and Jeff Howard rounded out the slew of Broncos who set career-bests Friday afternoon when they finished the 5,000-meter section three race in fourth (13:57.21) and 22nd (14:26.92) place, respectively. Aaron Back placed 19th in the 5,000-meter section four race, clocking 14:32.93, while Rhys Park finished 21st (14:38.40).
The Blue and Orange recorded their sixth top-10 finish on the track when Drew O'donoghue-McDonald placed 10th (3:51.89) in the 1,500-meter section four race.
Senior Hayli Bozarth tossed a 45-8.50 (13.93m) for seventh place in the shot put and placed ninth in the hammer throw (176-7 / 53.83m).
Boise State will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the Sun Angel Classic, April 10-12, hosted by Arizona State.
