March 5, 2018

NEW ORLEANS – Boise State’s Sadi Henderson was named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) West Region Female Track Athlete of the Year, the organization announced Monday. Henderson is the second Bronco to earn the honor, after Allie Ostrander was named the award winner in the 2015 indoor season.

Henderson is in the midst of another banner season for indoor track. She is undefeated against collegians in the 800m race, and broke her school and Mountain West Championship records she set last year in the event.

The Corvallis, Mont. Native won the 800m at last weekend’s Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, running 2:03.95 in the finals to reset her school and conference championship records. She currently owns the fifth-fastest time in the event nationally.

The redshirt junior was also a member of Boise State’s winning distance medley relay that set school, Mountain West Championship, and Albuquerque Convention Center records of 11:05.39. The team’s altitude converted time of 10:55.32 is the fastest time in the nation this season. She came back to run a leg of the team’s 4x400 relay which took sixth.

Henderson will compete at the NCAA Indoor National Championships this weekend in both the 800m and distance medley relay. She will be joined by Amy Pfaff, Alexis Fuller and Chelsea Walker in the distance medley relay, while both Ostrander and Clare O’Brien qualified in individual events.
