Nationals Set for Terre Haute

 CROSS COUNTRY - A key part of the Broncos’ lineup in his freshman campaign, steadily progressed throughout the season…closed the year as Boise State’s top finisher at the NCAA Championships, taking 70th with a 10k time of (30:43.9) – good for the fifth-fastest freshman time in the field…was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year after securing the top freshman finish at the conference championships…he ran a 27:00.7 at the MW Championships, taking ninth which was also gave him All-Mountain West First-Team honors…took 30th at the NCAA West Regional (10k – 31:49.9)…picked up valuable experience early on in the season at the Roy Griak Invitational (55th – 26:07.1) and the Wisconsin adidas Invitational (172nd - 24:54.7)...INDOOR - Kicked off the indoor season at home in Boise at the Ed Jacoby Invite, running in the mile (4:14.13) to take third and helping the DMR squad (10:41.05 to a fourth-place day…ran an 8:09.37 at the UW Invitational, making him the fifth-fastest indoor 3ker in school history…clocked a 8:23.31 at the Husky Classic…helped the DMR team take second at the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships with a school record time of 9:48.34, earned All-MW honors in the process…also competed in the 3,000m and the 5,000m at the MW Indoor Track and Field Championships, running a 8:35.14 and 14:54.32, respectively...OUTDOOR – Finished the outdoor season on a high note, winning the 10,000-meter run at the conference championships with a time of 30:08.25, just out-kicking Air Force’s All-American, Patrick Corona…became the first freshman in Mountain West history to win the 10K since 2001, and became the first Boise State athlete on the men’s side to win the event at a MW Championship…also earned a spot on the podium in the 5,000 meters at conference, running a 14:27.25 to take eighth place…clocked a 3:53.14 in the 1,500-meter run at the Border Clash for second place…began his year running in the 5K at back-to-back meets at Stanford…ran a 14:55.19 at the Stanford Invitational and season-best 14:16.39 at the Stanford Twilight.

: Elijah Armstrong comes to Boise State as one of the most decorated prep athletes in state history after becoming the first high school runner in Idaho history to win four-consecutive 4A Idaho Cross Country State Championships. He is a four-time Idaho Gatorade Athlete of the Year – three times in cross country, once in track and field – and he is the state record holder in the 1,600m and the 3,200m. Armstrong also currently possesses the 11th-fastest 3,200m (8:52.16) and mile (4:07.15) times in the country. The Pocatello High School product has amassed 12 state titles over the course of his prep career in cross country and track and field. He took third at the Footlocker Nationals in cross country last fall after taking sixth in 2013, and was also a two-time New Balance Nationals Indoor 5,000m Champion.
