Broncos Return to Louisville for NCAAs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The season began in Louisville, and the season will end in Louisville for the Boise State men's and women's cross country teams. The Broncos qualified both teams for the NCAA Cross Country Championships for only the second time in program history, and will race in the national championship, Saturday.

WHERE: The Broncos will return to EP `Tom' Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. -- the site of this season's opener, the Greater Louisville Classic, Sept. 30. The venue also hosted the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships, the last time the Broncos qualified both teams for nationals.

WHEN:

Women's 6-kilometer race- 7 a.m. (MT)

Men's 10-kilometer race- 8 a.m. (MT)

THE FIELD: 31 teams will compete in each race. The women will race from Box 36, while the men will race from Box 12.

Only seven runners will be allowed to race. Boise State will make their final declarations on race day.

BRONCOS IN THE RANKING: The women checked in at No. 12 in the latest USTFCCCA poll, while the men check in at No. 23.

CHASING HISTORY: In two previous trips to the national championships, the women's team finished 11th. Ranked one spot back of their previous finish entering the national championships, Boise State is within striking distance of a program-best finish by the women's team.

TOP 10 STREAK: A Bronco woman has finished in the top 10 of the national championships for the past four years. Emma Bates (2013) and Allie Ostrander (2015) each had runner-up finishes, while Bates also placed third in 2014. Brenna Peloquin took sixth last year to continue the streak.
