BOISE, Idaho - Boise State men's basketball head coach Leon Rice announced the signing of Nicholas (Nick) Duncan to a National Letter of Intent, Thursday.
Duncan, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward from Sydney, Australia (Australian Institute of Sport), will enroll at Boise State in fall 2013.
"Nick is a big, strong, physical player with a great feel for the game," Rice said. "He reminds me a lot of Bishop Kelly's Cory Violette."
A scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport, which also produced current Broncos Anthony Drmic and Igor Hadziomerovic, Duncan led NSW Metro to the gold medal at the 2011 U18 National Championship, averaging 17.6 points and 14.9 rebounds per game.
He helped Australia earn the silver medal at the 2012 U17 World Championship, leading the squad in rebounding (8.0). Included was a 13-rebound performance against the United States, a game high.
Australia will name its roster for the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship later this summer. The tournament will be hosted by the Czech Republic. Duncan has already been named to the Australian team that will travel to compete in the Team China Tour, squaring off against China, Lithuania and the United States later this summer.
