The Boise State men’s basketball team continued its preseason preparations with an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night in Bronco Gym. The fifth-annual scrimmage preceded the football team’s game against Wyoming.

The team split up into blue and grey teams, changing up the two sides throughout the evening. The night featured three different periods, all of which differed in length (10, 8 and 4-minute periods).

“We’ve been practicing for a while, and the team is ready to compete,” head coach Leon Rice said. “I thought they did a good job of competing. We don’t have everything polished up obviously, but we’re just starting to get our first units together and get our timing right. There were some good things out there and I really liked what I saw. I liked the way they got after each other, and I think it’s going to be a fun year.”

Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year Chandler Hutchison led all scorers with 15 points on 6-for-14 shooting. The senior also hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer in the four-minute period that concluded the scrimmage.

Zach Haney and transfer Christian Sengfelder both tallied six rebounds apiece while Hutchison, Derrick Alston and Justinian Jessup all finished with three assists each.

Cam Christon and Lexus Williams were both perfect in their Bronco debuts, as Christon finished the day 4-for-4 from the field and Williams was 2-for-2 with both of his baskets coming from the three-point line

Haney and Jessup joined Hutchison as double-digit scorers with 10 points each. Three different players ended the evening with eight points.
