DENVER - The Mountain West Conference and DIRECTV Sports Networks have entered into a multi-year agreement, making DIRECTV Sports, and its ROOT SPORTS-branded regional sports network, the regional television home of Mountain West football and men's basketball.
Beginning with the 2013-14 season, ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain will annually produce and televise approximately 10 of the league's football games, and a minimum of 25 nonconference and intra-conference men's basketball games.
All events will be produced and distributed in high definition.
Four of the Broncos' men's basketball games were broadcast by ROOT SPORTS this past season, including the team's home game against New Mexico, a neutral-site game against Idaho and road games at Wyoming and New Mexico.
"We are pleased to partner with the Mountain West Conference to bring these games to fans throughout the region," said Patrick Crumb, President of DIRECTV Sports Networks. "The Mountain West offers competitive, compelling match-ups, and we look forward to providing a platform to showcase the conference and its teams."
"Our entire ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain team is excited to be the regional home of the Mountain West Conference," said David Woodman, General Manager of ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain. "With many member institutions located within our network's footprint, these games will be a great addition to our collegiate sports programming for years to come."
"This unique partnership will provide enhanced coverage and promotion for the entire MW membership," said Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson. "ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain is an important component in an innovative, multi-platform exposure plan for the future of the league."
ROOT SPORTS Rocky Mountain reaches 2.5 million households across nine states and delivers more than 350 live events each year - each of which is available in high definition.
