Williams Claims Second Bronco AOW
Oct. 17, 2017

BOISE, Idaho - Bronco CB/PR/KR Avery Williams was voted the Boise State Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 9-15 by Bronco fans on Twitter.

Williams sparked the Broncos' 31-14 win at No. 19/18 San Diego State Saturday night with a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown, his second such score of the season. Overall in the contest, Williams averaged 28.5 yards over two punt returns, and returned a kickoff 43 yards to lead the Broncos on special teams.

For the season, Williams leads the Mountain West and ranks ninth in the FBS with a punt-return average of 15.9 yards. His two punt-return touchdowns are also just one behind national leader Dante Pettis of Washington, and make him the first Bronco to have multiple punt-return scores since Kyle Wilson had three in 2008.

Williams played one of his best all-around games Saturday, getting the start at cornerback and making six solo tackles in addition to breaking up a pass.

Boise State (4-2, 2-0 MW) returns to Albertsons Stadium this Saturday night, hosting Wyoming (4-2, 2-0 MW) at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN2.

Also Nominated: Brian Humphreys (men's golf), Allie Ostrander (women's cross country), Raimee Sherle (women's soccer).
