Humphreys Leads the Way in Arizona

Brian Humphreys concluded the ASU Thunderbird Invitational with his best round of the tournament, firing off a 2-under 69 in the third round to finish the tournament at par, Saturday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

The Broncos recovered to shoot 291 in the third round to move a spot up the leaderboard into 13th. Boise State concluded the tournament with a combined score of 882 (288-303-291, +30). The field featured five teams ranked in the top 25 nationally.

Humphreys finished the tournament in a tie for 27th, just a stroke back of the top 25. The sophomore ended the tournament with a combined 213 (70-74-69, E). He made an eagle in the third round, and finished the tournament with 11 birdies, while finishing tied for third in par-4 scoring (3.85).

Donny Hopoi was able to rebound from a difficult first round to finish in a tie for 52nd. Hopoi shot 220 on the weekend (75-73-72, +7).

Skyler Eubank (70-80-75 – 225, +12), Tristan Rohrbaugh (74-77-76 – 227, +14) and Mason Schulze (74-79-75 – 225, +18) rounded out the Boise State lineup.

While competing at a separate, individuals only tournament, senior Jacob Byers end the ASU Individual with his best round of the weekend, firing off a 71 to finish at par. Byers ended the tournament at 228 (77-80-71, +15). 

Boise State will enter the final stage of the season next weekend at the Mountain West Men’s Golf Championship, April 20-22.
