CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Boise State wrestling team dropped its final dual of the regular season Sunday, falling to No. 21 Oregon State (36-9) at Gill Coliseum in this year’s edition of the Border War. The loss was the seventh-straight for the Broncos (3-9, 1-4 Pac-12). Boise State’s lone victories of the afternoon came from 15th-ranked Geordan Martinez at 149 pounds, and from Austin Dewey at 174. Dewey provided six points with his pin of Tyler Chay (5:00), his first fall since sticking Arizona State’s Zachary Smith, Nov. 22, 2015. The pin was his fourth of the season. Martinez won his 15th-consecutive match, earning a 7-3 decision over Joey Delgado. He has not lost since Dec. 5, at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. Rami Haddadin nearly pulled off an upset over seventh-ranked Ronnie Bresser at 125, getting a third-period takedown. Bresser got a reversal with less than 25 seconds remaining however, winning 5-4. Oregon State (11-6, 3-2 Pac-12) picked up bonus points in five matches, including three pins, a major decision and a technical fall. With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Broncos will turn their attention toward the Pac-12 Championships, set for Saturday (Feb. 27) at Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz.
