BOISE, Idaho - Lauren Lenhardt scored 20 points to lead Boise State during the Broncos 83-65 home loss to Fresno State Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West women's basketball game in Taco Bell Arena. Boise State opened the game by playing its best half of the year shooting 57 percent from the floor, only to see Fresno State regroup and take control in the second period stretching a five point, 43-38, halftime lead to a 18 point victory. The loss dropped Boise State to 10-15 overall and 3-9 in league play, while Fresno State improved to 18-8 and 10-3 in conference.

In a familiar scene, Lenhardt once again battled double teams to lead Boise State in scoring for the 15th time in 25 games recording her 19 contest with double-figure points, sixth with 20-plus. The senior from Eagle, Idaho, tried to carry her team shooting 53.8 percent (7-13) from the floor with one 3-pointer and went a perfect five-for-five from the free-throw line to go with three rebounds, two assists, two blocks and four steals in 31 minutes of action.

Three other Broncos reached double-figure points to back up Lenhardt, led by Brandi Henton with 14 points, team-high eight rebounds and four assists. She was followed by Erica Martinez who hit three-treys to finish with 11 points, while Lexie Der added 10 points, four rebounds, one assist and one block. Rosalie Cutri playing at the point contributed six points, four boards, career-high eight assists, one block and three steals.

Boise State shot a league-season-best 49.1 percent (27-55) from the floor, 28.6 percent (4-14) from beyond the arc and a perfect seven-of-seven from the charity stripe. Fresno State countered by hitting 51.7 percent (30-58) from the floor, a game changing 43.8 percent (14-32) from 3-point range and 81.8 percent (9-11) from the foul line. The Bulldogs had a slight edge in rebounding by a 29 to 27 margin and 13 to 12 in offensive boards, but Boise State had a 17 to 15 edge in second chance points.

Fresno State also had four players in double-digit points led by Ki-Ki Moore with 22, followed by Rosie Moult with 21, Alex Sheedy's 17 and Taylor Thompson's 13.

As usual when these two teams play it is a physical contest, today was no different as the Broncos and Bulldogs went at each other. Early on the game went back and forth as they traded nine leads with four ties in the opening period of play. Fresno State used a 10-2 run to take control as the Bulldogs went from one down, 19-18, to seven up, 28-21, with nine minutes to play in the half.

Boise State never regained the lead after that spurt by the Bulldogs. Down 10 at 41-31 with just over three minutes to play until half, the blue and orange rallied with a 7-2 run to cut its deficit to five points at the break. The Broncos finished with a season-high in field goal shooting percentage for a half during the first period hitting 16 of 28 attempts for 57.1 percent.

Unfortunately, it was the same story as the first time these two teams met in January where it was close at the break before the Bulldogs took control during the final 20 minutes of play.  Fresno State used a 9-0 run early in the half to seize momentum as it took a 12 point, 54-42, lead five and half minutes into the period. The closest the Broncos would get after that was eight points at 54-46 with 13:44 remaining as Fresno State slowly pulled away down the stretch.

Boise State now faces to road games on its slate for next week when the Broncos travel to play at Nevada Wednesday night followed by a trip to Colorado State Saturday afternoon.
