Boise State Falls at San Diego State in Regular Season Finale

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - On Senior Day in San Diego, Boise State fell 86-45 to a fired-up San Diego State Aztec team in the regular season finale for both teams in Viejas Arena. Boise State struggled early while San Diego State stormed out of the gates to take control and never looked back. The Broncos' loss to the two-time champion Aztecs drops them to 11-18 overall and 4-12 in league play.

Laura Pelse led Boise State with a team and career-high 10 points to go with four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal. Rosalie Cutri added nine points, four rebounds and team-high four assists, followed by Lauren Lenhardt with seven points and five boards.

On the day Boise State shot 28.3 percent (17-60) from the floor, 22.2 percent (2-9) from the arc and 64.3 percent (9-14) from the free-throw line. San Diego State countered at 47.9 percent (35-73) shooting from the floor, 27.3 percent (6-22) from 3-point range and 10-for-10 from the charity stripe.

Four Aztecs reached double-digit points led by Courtney Clements with 26 points, followed by Chelsea Hopkins with 13, Malia Nahinu added 12 and Erimma Amarikwa's 10. Hopkins recorded a triple-double, her fourth of the season, against the Broncos adding 11 rebounds and 10 assists to her points.

The first half saw San Diego State take control early as the Broncos struggled to get shots to fall. The Aztecs ran out to a double digit lead, 13-2, by the 13 minute mark and never looked back. They stretched their advantage to 17 late in the period including the margin at intermission up 32-15.

The second half was similar to the first in that San Diego State maintained its pressure and tempo to control the game, stretching its lead into the 30's midway through the period.  
Boise State will enter next week's Reese's Mountain West Basketball Championship at Las Vegas as the number seven seed, and will face Fresno State the No. 2 seed at 7 p.m. (Mountain) on Thursday night in the Thomas and Mack Center at UNLV.
