Lobelo, Perry Finish in Top 15

LINCOLN, Neb. –
The Boise State women’s golf team battled tough conditions to place two freshmen in the top 15 at the Chip-N Club Invitational, Tuesday.

Alejandra Lobelo followed up her impressive debut last month in tied for 10th-place. Lobelo shot 231 (81-73-77, +15) over three rounds.

Lexi Perry finished three strokes behind Lobelo in a tie for 15th. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native was consistent through all three rounds, shooting 234 (78-78-78, +18).

Sophomore Valentine Lacaze showed the biggest jump of the Bronco lineup, rising 19 spots on the leaderboard over the final two rounds. Lacaze was tied for 10th in the field with 32 pars, and shot 242 on the week (86-75-79, +24).

Nicole Suppelsa (79-81-82 – 242, +26) and Ivane Helias (85-79-79 – 243, +27) rounded out the scoring for Boise State.

As a team, the Broncos shot a combined 941 (323-305-313, +77) on the week.

“The conditions were really tough this week with the wind and rain, and unfortunately we did not handle them as well as we wanted,” head coach Nicole Bird said. “The second round was pretty solid, showing an 18 shot improvement and the second lowest round of the day. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it going today.”

Boise State will return to action in Tacoma, Wash., for the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, Oct. 16-17.
