Broncos Shoot Low on Day One

HONOLULU, Hawaii –
The Boise State women’s golf team fired low scores on the opening day of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, with three Broncos currently in the top 25.

Sophomore Valentine Lacaze leads the Broncos through two rounds in a tie for seventh. Lacaze fired off rounds of 72 and 73 (145, +1), making seven birdies along the way.

Freshman Alejandra Lobelo is a stroke behind Lacaze at 2-over. Lobelo is currently in a tie for 14th thanks to a combined score of 146 (74-72).

Lacaze’s and Lobelo’s round scores of 72 are their lowest, or tied for their lowest of the season.

Lexi Perry joins Lacaze and Lobelo in the top 25 in a tie for 24th. Perry had a strong start to the tournament with a first round score of 73, and is currently at 5-over (73-76, +149).

Kinsley Bonfilio (81-77 – 158, +14) and Nicole Suppelsa (82-79 – 161, +17) round out the scoring for Boise State.

The Broncos are currently in eight, shooting a combined 598 (300-298, +22). Boise State’s second round score of 298 is their lowest team-round of the season.

The tournament will conclude with tomorrow’s third round, scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at noon (MT). Live results will be provided by golfstat.com.
