LOGAN, Utah – The No. 16 Broncos came through with a season-high team score of 196.625 in victory at Utah State on Friday evening at the Smith Spectrum.

The Broncos (6-0, 4-0 MRGC), defeated host Utah State, 196.625 to 195.150 remain undefeated on the season.

“This was a great bounce-back meet for us, after a slow start last week” said co-head coach Neil Resnick.

Junior Shani Remme once again took home the all-around crown with a score of 39.350. She earned first place on bars (9.900) and tied for first on beam (9.875).

The Broncos started off well on bars, combining for a score of 49.125. After Remme’s meet-high score of 9.900, sophomore Courtney McGregor and freshman Emily Muhlenhaupt finished tied for second with scores of 9.875. For Muhlenhaupt, it was an outstanding collegiate debut.

Next on vault, the Broncos were led by Mary Frances Bir, who came through with a career-high 9.95 on her front handspring pike half out to win the meet title on the event. Senior Ann Stockwell was next with a score of 9.875. After two rotations the Broncos led 98.725 to 97.450.

On floor exercise, Utah State gymnasts Autumn DeHarde led the way with an impressive 9.925, but senior Sandra Collantes was almost as outstanding, tying with Utah State’s Madison Ward for second with a score of 9.900. Bir continued her outstanding day, also coming through with an impressive 9.850 on her floor routine. Overall the Broncos scored as a team 49.175 on the event.

The Broncos remained strong, finishing up on beam with a season-high score of 49.175. Alex Esmerian, Sarah Means and Remme all tied for first with scores of 9.875.

The Broncos will remain on the road next week, as they travel to San Jose State on Friday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. MT.
