PROVO, Utah -- The No. 13 Broncos suffered their first loss of the season as they fell 196.225 to 196.175 at No. 18 BYU on Friday evening at Smith Fieldhouse.

The Broncos (9-1, 4-1 MRGC) were led by Shani Remme, who won the all-around competition with a score of 39.450 and tied her career-high mark of 9.925 on beam.

"The team had great energy tonight. We need to work on our landings and attack a bit more going into the last half of our season," said co-head coach Tina Bird

The Broncos came up with a combined score of 49.100 on bars. Sandra Collantes, Shani Remme and Gabriella Bouza each scored team-highs of 9.825 on the event. For Bouza it was her first official collegiate bars routine. Sarah Means and Ann Stockwell each collected a score of 9.800.

On vault, the Broncos were led by Remme and Stockwell, who each scored 9.825 on the event. Senior Mary Frances Bir was next with a score of 9.800.

After the second rotation, the Broncos trailed the Cougars, 98.150 to 98.025.

On floor, Collantes led the Broncos as she tied her season-high score of 9.900 on the event. Remme was next with a score of 9.875. Stockwell finished with a 9.850, while McGregor had a 9.800.

Overall on floor the Broncos ended with a team score of 49.200, taking the lead back from the Cougars who scored 48.700 as a team on beam.

Heading into the final rotation, the Broncos led 147.225 to 146.900.

Remme led the Broncos on beam with an impressive score of 9.925, tying her career-high mark on the event. Means was next with a score of 9.800 as the Broncos scored 48.950 overall on the event.

However, the Cougars were outstanding on floor exercise, scoring as a team 49.325, led by a 9.950 from Kyleigh Greenlief.

That floor score for the Cougars pushed them over the top, as they finished with a combined team score of 196.225, compared to the Broncos' 196.175.

The Broncos are back in action next Friday, March 2 as they host Sacramento State at 7 p.m. MT at Taco Bell Arena. The meet will be Senior Day for Bir, Collantes, Webb and Stockwell.
