BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State gymnastics team earned a 196.550-193.350 win over Seattle Pacific, Saturday night (March 8), claiming all four event titles as well as the all-around. The evening served as senior night as well as the second Beauty and the Beast competition of the season, where the gymnasts competed alongside the Boise State and Oregon State wrestling dual match in Taco Bell Arena.
The Broncos earned a season-best team score of 49.375 on vault, as well as scores of 49.150 on uneven bars and floor exercise, and 48.875 on balance beam en route to the 11th-best team total in school history.
Junior Kelsey Morris and senior Kelsey Black led the Broncos to the fourth-best vault team total in program history with 9.90 scores, tying for the event title. Junior Ciera Perkins placed third on the event with a 9.875, while Amanda Otuafi joined Maddie Krentz, who tied her career-best, to place fourth with 9.850 scores.
Sophomore Krystine Jacobsen swept both the bars and beam titles, earning scores of 9.875 and 9.850, respectively. Black, Morris and Perkins each scored 9.825 to sweep the top-four spots on bars, while Diana Mejia, Paige Urquhart and Marissa Wossner earned scores of 9.775 to tie for second on beam. Morris went on to capture the all-around title with a total of 39.175, adding scores of 9.70 on beam and 9.750 on floor.
Perkins earned her eighth career floor title with a career-best 9.925 score, followed by seniors Amanda Otuafi and Kelsey Black who had wonderful senior night performances to each earn scores of 9.850. Perkins’ win moves her to second on the all-time season floor wins list (7), while also moving her to sole possession of the No. 7 spot in career floor wins.
Seniors Kelsey Black, Alessandra Cinfio and Amanda Otuafi were recognized following the meet for their contribution to the Boise State gymnastics program.
Boise State will continue action Saturday, March 15 on the road against Denver and Iowa State in its final regular season home meet. The meet is set for a 6:00 p.m. (MT) start at DU’s Hamilton Gymnasium.
