The No. 14 Boise State Broncos remain on the road this week, visiting San Jose State for a tri-meet with the Spartans and No. 23 Iowa State on Friday, Feb 9 at 8 p.m. MT at The Event Center in San Jose, Calif.

THIS WEEKEND
This weekend's tri-meet marks just he second time this season the Broncos have been a part of a multi-team meet, having hosted a quad meet with SPU, UIC and Denver on Jan. 19. Iowa State is ranked No. 23 nationally (195.415 average), just the second ranked team (Denver) the Broncos have faced this season.

SERIES HISTORY
The Broncos are 31-6-1 all-time against San Jose State, and have won the last thee meetings, with the last coming on Feb. 12, 2016. Against Iowa State, the Broncos are 3-0, with the last meeting coming last season, April 1, 2017 in the Lincoln Regional in the NCAA postseason. The Broncos finished third in that regional, while the Cyclones finished sixth.

LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos defeated MRGC foe Utah State on the road with a season-high score of 196.625. The Broncos had a great bounce-back meet, after an uncharacteristically slow start at Southern Utah the week before. At Utah State the Broncos never trailed, and put together season-high scores on vault, 49.150 and on beam of 49.175. On bars, freshman Emily Muhlenhaupt made her collegiate debut count, scoring a 9.850 on the event. Senior Mary Frances Bir was outstanding on the day, coming through with a career-high vault of 9.95 and a career-high on floor exercise of 9.850. Junior Shani Remme was as dependable as ever, winning the all-around with a score of 39.350, and took first on bars with a score of 9.900 and tied for first on beam, 9.875 with teammates Alex Esmerian and Sarah Means.

BRONCO CAPTAINS
Seniors Sandra Collantes and Ann Stockwell have been tabbed as team captains for the 2017-18 season.

CONFERENCE HONORS
For the fourth-straight week, junior Shani Remme has taken home MRGC Gymnast of the Week honors, this time as she produced an all-around score of 39.350. She also shared MRGC Beam Specialist of the Week with teammates Alex Esmerian and Sarah Means, as they all scored 9.875s on the event at Utah State to tie for first. For the second-straight week Mary Frances Bir earned MRGC Vault Specialist of the Week, this time after scoring a career-high 9.95 on vault, the highest score on the event in the conference so far this season.

RETURNERS
The Broncos return a wealth of experience from a 2017 squad that brought home the program's third-straight MRGC title. The 11 returners are headlined by 2017 MRGC Gymnast of the Year Shani Remme, who finished ninth individually in the first semifinal at the 2017 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, setting the highest all-around score at nationals in Boise State history (39.3625). In addition to Remme, the Broncos return six additional gymnasts that earned All-MRGC First Team honors in 2017, Sarah Means, Courtney McGregor, Mary Frances Bir, Sandra Collantes, Alex Esmerian and Abby Webb. Overall the Broncos return seven of eight all-conference honorees from last season. For the 11th-straight season the Broncos are under the direction of co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick, the 2017 MRGC Coaches of the Year and the 2017 NACGC/W West Region Co-Head Coaches of the Year.

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK
The Broncos are coming off their third-straight MRGC title in 2017, and advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the 10th-straight season. Other record-breaking moments from 2017 include; first time recording four team scores over 197 in a single season, with the highest team score in school history (197.675).
