LAS VEGAS -- Boise State (13-6-3) left it all out on the field Thursday night in a 1-0 loss to San Diego State (11-7-2) in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Championship. The Broncos fought tooth and nail in search of the equalizer after an Aztec goal in the 48th minute, but couldn't find it despite outshooting SDSU 12-9.

The 13-6-3 mark gives Boise State the most successful season in school history based on winning percentage (65.9%). The 13 total wins ties the school record for most wins in a season. The seven wins in Mountain West play is also a Bronco record for most wins in a conference regular season.

Boise State showed flashes of offense in the first half, coming close to finding the scoring column. Eva Herrera hammered a 25-yard shot that went just wide in the 14th and Raimee Sherle had a decent attempt blocked shortly after in the 18th.

The best two opportunities of the half, however, came from Sarah Taylor in the 37th minute. The senior bended a left-footed free kick sharply into the arms of the Aztec keeper, and then followed it up with another blast just seconds later that was also saved.

The Broncos produced four corner kicks in the first half and led SDSU in shots (9-5) and shots on goal (3-1) after 45 minutes of play.

The Aztecs' Aliyah Utush scored the lone goal of the game in the 48th minute off a counter attack. She received a long pass and carried the ball into the box to eventually score.

The Blue and Orange ramped up their efforts in pursuit of the equalizer over the course of the next 42 minutes, but the quality looks were few and far in between.

Falon Miller came close in the 74th, and Sherle got off a shot in the 81st that was partially deflected. Sherle recorded a shot on goal in the 84th, but those would be the only real opportunities of the half for the No. 3 seed Broncos.

The loss broke up a five-game winning streak and an eight-game unbeaten streak for Boise State. Sherle led the way with four shots while Janelle Flores recorded three saves.
