BOISE, Idaho – Boise State women's soccer head coach Jim Thomas announced, Wednesday, Hailey DeVries of Littleton, Colo., signed a letter of intent to join the Broncos.
DeVries comes to Boise State from Arapahoe High School where she split her career between soccer and track. She spent her first two years of high school as a member of the Warriors’ soccer team which advanced to the 5A Colorado state final in 2010 and the semifinals in 2011 during which she received 5A Centennial League honorable mention. As a junior, Devries switched to the track where she took seventh at the state meet in the 300 meter hurdles and was a member of the third-place 4x400 relay team.
“Hailey is an excellent central defender and has the ability to play anywhere along the back four,” said Thomas. “She will bring a technical and tactical quality that will help immediately and an athleticism that will mark a change in the caliber of athletes that we will be recruiting in the future.”
At the club level, Devries played for Rush Nike under coach Erik Bushey. She was selected to the Olmpic Development Program Team in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and participated in the State Cup finals every year from 2007-2011, winning in 2007, 2008 and 2011. Devries is highly touted for her play at the club level garnering a ranking of 19th in the Rocky Mountains/Southwest region by topdrawersoccer.com.
