BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State soccer team will play in four matches as part of their 2013 spring schedule, head coach Jim Thomas announced, Wednesday. The Broncos will get back into competition this weekend when they face Washington State, Sunday (March 3) at noon.
The road match in Pullman, Wash., will be the only road contest of the spring as the squad remains in Boise for matches against Idaho State (March 9), Northwest Nazarene (April 5) and an alumnae team (April 21).
The team spent winter training with an eight-hour limit each week per NCAA rules; a limit that has now moved up to 20 hours per week.
“The players have worked really hard coming out of the eight-hour segment,” Thomas said. “I have seen a lot of progression over the past two and a half weeks and am excited to watch and evaluate in a competitive setting.”
Thomas said high tempo practices every day since training started in January have been demanding and brought a new level of fitness to the team. Weariness has not overcome the Broncos though as the team chemistry is high according to Thomas.
Through winter practices, the focus for the Broncos has been defense at all levels. The Broncos will take more of an offensive-minded approach heading into the spring as Thomas hopes to evaluate the attacking ability of the squad.
