BOISE, Idaho - 2017 Schedule | Bronco Sports Passes On Sale Now

Boise State women’s soccer is not shying away from the competition in 2017. Head coach Jim Thomas announced the team’s fall schedule Tuesday, which includes three home matches against teams that finished in the RPI top 100 last season.

“I like the way our schedule sets up,” said Thomas. “We’ve made significant strides in our nonconference schedule. We’re bringing some real showcase games to Boise for our home fans to see. That kind of quality is what we’re about.”

Boise State will open the season with a full weekend of home matches. The Broncos take on Montana Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. in the season opener, before hosting Southern Utah Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. The team will hit the road for a rivalry weekend, playing at Idaho (Aug. 25) and Idaho State (Aug. 27).

Boas Soccer Complex will play host to one of the most star-studded home weekends in program history Sept. 1-3, when the Broncos welcome Cal Poly, Oklahoma and Oregon. Boise State will take on Cal Poly (Sept. 1; 5 p.m.) and Oklahoma (Sept. 3; 2 p.m.). The Sooners finished last year No. 14 in the RPI and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The weekend opens Friday, with a neutral-site match between Oklahoma and Oregon, immediately followed by the host Broncos facing Cal Poly.

Nonconference play wraps up with three road matches, including the Nike Portland Invitational. Boise State will take on Washington (Sept. 8) and Portland (Sept. 10) as the Broncos face soccer blue bloods for a second straight weekend. A road match against Weber State (Sept. 15) rounds out the out-of-conference action.

“We have a good mix of traditional matchups as well new opponents,” said Thomas. “Being a part of the Portland tournament is a big deal for us. We’ll be alongside with some of the best programs in the country, on one of the best surfaces in one of the best collegiate soccer facilities in the country.”

Home matches against two more top-100 foes highlight the Mountain West slate. Reigning MW champion UNLV will be in town for the home finale Oct. 22, when the Broncos celebrate Senior Day for one an accomplished class hungry to leave their mark on the program.

Conference play will also see the Broncos host New Mexico (Sept. 29), San Diego State (Oct. 1), Air Force (Oct. 6), Colorado College (Oct. 8) and Nevada (Oct. 20).

“The Mountain West is picking up steam,” said Thomas. “It had been kind of top heavy for a while, and now the quality of teams and quality of results is spreading out a little more. The league is really six or seven deep with teams who could win it.”

In all, there will be 12 chances for Treasure Valley soccer fans to catch Division I matches at Boas Soccer Complex, including 10 Boise State home matches.
