Three Broncos Earn All-MW Softball Distinction

Three members of the Boise State softball team earned All-Mountain West distinction for 2014, the conference announced Tuesday. Tara Glover and Rebecca Patton were named first-team All-MW while Jordan Kreiger picked up second-team honors.

Senior MacKenzie Whyte hit a walk-off home run in the seventh inning to cap an emotional Senior Day Sunday, at Dona Larsen Park and give the Broncos a 5-4 win against New Mexico. With the sweep, the Broncos move into a first-place tie in the Mountain West.

Boise State vs New Mexico Game 1 Highlights

Boise State scored seven runs in the first three innings and cruised to a 7-0 win, behind a shutout from Rebecca Patton. Buggs Torrez led the offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.


Boise State vs San Jose State Game 3 Highlights

Boise State defeated San Jose State 7-6 in walk-off fashion Saturday, April 19, to claim the series. Brittany McCray's two-run home run in the seventh inning tied the game before Tara Glover's double drove in the game-winning run. Ashley Palmer tied the school record with four hits, going 4-for-4.

    Senior (2014): Named to All-Mountain West Team...earned spot on Academic All-Mountain West Team...one of just two Broncos (along with Jordan Kreiger) to appear in and start all 52 games...started every contest in the outfield...led the team in hits (62), runs scored (44), triples (two), total bases (86), hit-by-pitches (seven) and stolen bases (36, out of 40 attempts)...ranked second on the team with a .344 batting average...had nine three-hit games...opened year with three hits and three stolen bases in win over Utah (Feb. 7)...homered in consecutive games, first going 2-for-3 with two RBI against Cal State Northridge (Feb. 14), then going 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored in win over UTEP (Feb. 15)...hit a solo job against Oklahoma (Feb. 20)...singled three times against Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 22)...had an RBI triple in win over Lafayette (March 14)...went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in win over Southern Utah (March 15)...doubled and drove in four runs as part of a 3-for-4 day against Fresno State (March 24)...went 7-for-10 (.700) with three RBI over three games against UNLV (April 4-6)...went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI with three stolen bases in win at Nevada (April 12)...went 7-for-14 (.500) with three doubles and two RBI over series win against San Jose State (April 17-19)...tripled and drove in two runs in win at Utah State (April 22)...went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a pair of wins over New Mexico (May 2 & 4).

    Junior (2013): 2013 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watch List...All-Mountain West...started all 52 games in center field...led the team with 66 hits, ranking third in the Mountain West...had a hit in 41 of 52 games...set school record with 27 stolen bases, second in MW...second on the team with a .351 batting average, eighth in MW...also ranked in the top five on the team in slugging percentage (.479, third), on-base percentage (.384, fifth), runs scored (37, second), RBI (26, t-third), doubles (seven, fifth), triples (one, t-first), home runs (five, t-second) and total bases (90, second)...27-for-28 on stolen base attempts, only caught stealing came after over sliding second against Tulsa (March 24)...tied school record with four hits in a game twice (March 16 vs. Idaho State; March 26 at Southern Utah)...first Bronco with three-career four-hit games...first-career multi-homer game at No. 16/20 Arizona (March 9, game one)...walk-off two-run home run with two outs in the seventh in series finale against San Diego State (April 21)...collected 100th hit as a Bronco in her 63rd game in the Blue and Orange (Feb. 16 at UTSA), becoming fastest to reach the century mark...tied school record with three stolen bases against Texas Tech (March 23)...hit .275 in conference play, with 19 hits in 18 games...scored 11 runs, drove in nine more and was 9-for-9 on steals against MW competition...17 multi-hit games...eight multi-RBI games...had a hit in 10 of last 11 games...named to CollegSportsMadness.com's All-MW Second Team...Academic All-MW.

    Sophomore (2012): NFCA All-America Third Team...NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team...Mountain West co-Player of the Year...All-Mountain West...
