Eight Top-16 Finishes at Art Adamson

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Boise State’s swimming and diving team recorded seven top-16 finishes Saturday on the final day of the Art Adamson Invitational at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Abbey Sorensen, Ally Kleinsorgen and Emily Mathis each clocked B standard times in their respective events. The Broncos finished the three-day meet with 209 points to place eighth overall.

The day began with the 200 yard backstroke where three Broncos advanced to the finals. Sorensen led the trio of Broncos turning in two B standard times including a 1:56.67 in the final to place third in the B final flight and 11th overall. Kleinsorgen also recorded two B standard times finishing with a 1:57.73 in the B final and 13th overall. Molly Hogg reached the D final where she swam a 2:00.35.

Cody Evans led a trio of swimmers in the 100 yard freestyle where she clocked a 50.42 in the C final and finished 21st overall. Robin Pinger placed 26th overall after swimming a career-best 50.48 to place second in the D final. Emmie Jennings was 28th overall with a 50.74, fourth in the D final.

Emily Mathis recorded two B standard times in the 200 yard breaststroke including a 2:14.98 in the B final to place 16th overall. Laura Williams also reached the finals Saturday night clocking a 2:17.51 in the C final to place fifth in the flight and 21st overall.

Two Boise State swimmers Brittany Wen and Mandy Barnes advanced to the 200 butterfly final Saturday; Wen led the duo with a time of 2:02.34 to place 16th overall. Barnes placed 31st overall when she clocked a 2:05.32 in the D final.

Three Broncos placed in the top-20 of the 1,650 yard free led by Emma Chard who turned in a 16:35.09 to place 11th overall. Alyssa Schultz swam a career-best 16:45.10 placing 17th, while Barnes had a 16:47.02 to take 18th.

The divers competed in the platform Saturday where Cassidy Bose placed third overall with a score of 248.75. Taylor Clark finished 15th with a 173.00, while Tatum Thompkins scored 163.75 to place 17th.

The final event of the Art Adamson was the 400 freestyle relay. Boise State’s A team of Ally Kleinsorgen, Abbey Sorensen, Emmie Jennings and Cody Evans placed seventh overall with a time of 3:20.26. The B team clocked a 3:25.24 to finish 17th.
