Broncos Set for First Road Test at Arizona

Whats's Happening: After opening up the 2018 campaign with a 7-0 victory over Whitman College last Saturday morning the Broncos head out for their first road test of the season at Arizona on Friday, Jan. 26 at Lanelle Robson Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Arizona. 

Last Time Out: The Broncos made quick work of Whitman to open up the 2018 campaign, playing out all sets and sweeping the field. Sophomore Anja Dokic led the squad, winning at No. 1 doubles with Wiktoria Nosek 6-4 and then winning at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-4. Nosek was also strong in singles, playing the highest she has ever played as a Bronco, at No. 2, where she defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-3. The only singles match to go three sets was Hanna Kantenwein on court thee. She lost the first set to Whitman's Hanna Greenberg, 4-6, but she won set two 6-1 and the tie break set three, 10-3. Freshmen Wilhelmina Palmer and Vanessa Timm were outstanding, winning their singles matches on courts four and five, respectively. 

Youth is Served: The Broncos boast a lot of experience, despite only having one senior on the squad in Nancy Menjivar. Menjivar won her singles match at No. 6, 6-1, 6-0 vs. Whitman. There is also only one other upperclassmen on the team, in Hanna Kantenwein. Sophomore Anja Dokic, who was ranked nationally in singles as a true freshman in 2017, leads the way, along with fellow sophomores Lilian Poling, Jovanna Kuljanin and Wiktoria Nosek. Freshman Palmer and Timm are already instant contributors.
