COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman Kiley Lewis will spend this weekend participating in the open tryouts for the U.S. National Women’s Volleyball Team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lewis will be one of an estimated 234 individuals representing 89 colleges ─ one of seven from the Mountain West Conference ─ competing March 2-4 for a spot in one of the U.S. Women’s National Team Programs. The breakdown for the tryout includes 48 liberos, 50 middles, 62 outsides, 31 opposites, 43 setters. Athletes will be bidding for spots not only in the Women’s National Team Gym, but also positions on the U.S. Collegiate National Team Programs, both domestic and international.

Following the conclusion off the tryout on Sunday the freshman outside hitter will be notified by the end of March on whether she has been selected to participate in this summer’s national team programs.

In her first season at Boise State the native of Auburn, Wash., tallied 151 kills (5th on team), four assists, four service aces, 17 digs, 37 blocks and 173.5 points (5th on team). Lewis also averaged 1.72 kills (4th on team), 0.42 blocks and 1.97 points (5th on team) per set. She had six matches with double-digit kills with a season-high of 16 against Wyoming in Boise.
