WHAT IS HAPPENING THIS WEEK


  • Boise State (6-3) closes out the nonconference slate by hosting the Boise State Classic this Friday and Saturday at Bronco Gym.
  • The field includes No. 1 Minnesota, Oregon State and instate-rival Idaho State, along with the Broncos.

2017 ADMISSION COST


  • Ticket prices remain the same for 2017 as in previous years:
  • $6.00 Adult
  • $4.00 Junior (2-18) / Senior (62+)
  • Students are free with valid Boise State student I.D. card.
  • There will be a tournament pass available to fans for $25 which will get you into all six matches.

LAST WEEK FOR THE BRONCOS


  • The Broncos won the UC Davis Invitational this past weekend with sweeps of Santa Clara and Portland State sandwiched around a heartbreaking five-set loss to UC Davis. 
  • The Broncos won the title via their victory over Santa Clara who also went 2-1. 
  • Maddi Osburn was named the tournament MVP, while Sierra Nobley and Janell Walley made the all-tournament team. 
  • Boise State was led by Nobley who tallied a combined 48 kills during the tournament to break the Mountain West Conference career kills record finishing with 1,626. 
  • The next record Nobley has her sights set on is the program's career points record needing 11 to tie the mark and 12 to break it. 
  • Osburn recorded a tournament-high 58 digs and was perfect on 47 serve receptions to lead the Broncos defensively. 
  • Meanwhile, Walley hit an impressive 41.5 percent for 26 kills to go with eight blocks over the weekend. 

ABOUT NO. 1 MINNESOTA


  • The Golden Gophers enter the week as the top-ranked team in the nation and are 8-0 overall.
  • Minnesota is coming off winning the American Campus Classic at Austin, Texas, last week recording wins over Denver (3-0), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (3-0) and then-No. 5 Texas (3-1).
  • Minnesota is averaging 14.5 kills per set and hitting .307 percent (9th NCAA) on the year, while holding opponents to .142 percent hitting (20th NCAA).
  • Minnesota was picked to place third out of 14 in the Big Ten preseason poll after returning three starters, the libero and 11 letterwinners from last year's NCAA Final Four team.
  • The Golden Gophers won the only previous meeting with the Broncos 3-0 in 1988.

ABOUT OREGON STATE


  • The Beavers enter the week at 8-1 overall and are coming off a 2-1 weekend at the North Texas Challenge opening with a loss to host UNT (3-0), before regrouping to sweep Campbell and New Orleans. 
  • OSU is averaging 14.1 kills per set and hitting .294 percent as a team, while holding opponents to .132 percent. 
  • Oregon State was picked to place 10th out of 12 teams in the 2017 Pac-12 race after returning six starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's 12-19 team. 
  • The Broncos are 0-9 all-time versus the Beavers with the last meeting coming in 2002 at Corvallis, a 3-0 OSU victory.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE


  • The Bengals were the preseason favorites to win the Big Sky title in 2017.
  • Idaho State enters the week at 3-7 overall and are coming off a trip to the CSU Tournament where they went 0-3 falling to No. 16 Michigan (3-0), Ball State (3-1) and MW member 25th-ranked Colorado State (3-0). 
  • Idaho State is averaging 11.9 kills per set while hitting .206 percent, while holding their opponents to .241 percent hitting.
  • The Bengals return five starters, the libero and seven letterwinners from a squad that went 16-15 overall and 10-6 in league during 2016.
  • Boise State is 32-33 all-time versus ISU ...the Broncos defeated the Bengals 3-1 last fall in Pocatello.

NOBLEY SETS SCHOOL KILLS RECORD

  • Senior Sierra Nobley set the school career kills record versus No. 10 BYU (Aug. 31) when she tallied 23 against the Cougars pushing her past the old record of 1,510 to 1,530.
  • She has since extended the record to 1,626.

NOBLEY BREAKS MW KILLS RECORD

  • The next major record Nobley has set after Boise State's career kills mark this fall was the Mountain West Conference's career kills record breaking the old mark of 1,623 in the third set against Portland State (Sept. 9). 
  • She has since extended it out to 1,626. 


NOBLEY MOVING IN ON PROGRAM'S CAREER POINTS RECORD

  • Sierra Nobley entered 2017 with 1,642.0 points, good for second on the Bronco career list and 192 short of tying for the school record held by Cameron Flunder (2003-06) with 1,834.0. 
  • Nobley has since tallied 181.0 during the first three weeks of the season to pull within 11 to tie the record and 12 to break it.

OSBURN MOVES UP IN CAREER DIGS

  • Senior libero Maddi Osburn entered the season with 1,217 career digs good for eighth-place all-time at Boise State and 274 short of tying for the record at 1,491 set by Jackie Stroud (2003-06).
  • Osburn has tallied 189 digs through the first three weeks of the season to move from eight-place into second with 1,406, 85 short of tying record and 86 to break it.
