Four Broncos Named All-MW

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo- Boise State volleyball’s Sierra Nobley, Maddi Osburn, Sabryn Roberts and Janell Walley have been named to the All-Mountain West Team as announced by the conference this afternoon. This is the fourth-consecutive year for Nobley on the All-MW Team, third for Osburn and the first for both Roberts and Walley. 

Nobley is the first Bronco in history to be named all-conference four times. She is the most decorated volleyball player in program history adding 2016 MW Player of the Year and 2014 MW Freshman of the Year to her collection of league accolades. In addition, Nobley is a two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, two-time AVCA All-Region and was honorable mention as a freshman. The senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., is the Boise State and conference career record holder for kills (1,912), kills per set (4.53), attack attempts (4,907), points (2,142.0) and points per set (5.08). She enters the NIVC leading the MW and ranked seventh nationally in both kills per set (4.73) and points per set (5.32). Nobley has been ranked in top-15 nationally for kills and points per set for three-straight years.

Osburn is a three-time All-MW honoree at libero. The senior from Nampa, Idaho, is the Boise State career digs leader and sixth in MW history with 1,736. Osburn is also the school’s career digs per set leader at 4.04. In 2017, she is currently ranked second in the MW for digs per set at 4.85 and third in total digs with 519. Osburn has had eight contests this season with 20 or more digs and three with 30-plus.

Sabryn Roberts is a first time All-MW honoree after receiving honorable mention accolades last year. The outside hitter has played in every match this season tallying a team-second-best 332 kills for a 3.16 per set average. She led the MW during league action with 24 services aces to average 0.41 per set. Roberts also had 197 digs (1.88 dps), 56 blocks (0.53 bps) and 397.5 points (3.79 pps) against the second toughest schedule in the MW and 48th nationally according to the NCAA and the hardest nonconference schedule in the league according to the Pablo Index.

Janell Walley is also a first time All-MW honoree. The sophomore from Yucaipa, Calif., leads the team in hitting percentage at 28.5 percent on the year. She recorded 246 kills (2.56 kps), 44 assists (0.46 aps), 26 service aces (0.27), 207 digs (2.16 dps) and 61 blocks (0.64 bps) for 305.0 points (3.18 pps). 

The four All-MW honorees will lead Boise State (17-13) into the National Invitational Volleyball Championship this Tuesday night at Stockton, Calif., where they will face the Pacific Tigers (16-13) at 8 p.m. (MT). The winner of that contest will meet the winner of the UC Irvine (22-7) and Sacramento State (26-9) match Wednesday night in Stockton.
