COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State University's Liz Harden was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) honorable mention All-America list this morning. Harden is the first Bronco volleyball player ever to receive this high of recognition. The senior rightside hitter was one of eight Mountain West volleyball student-athletes recognized today by the AVCA, one made third-team All-America while the other seven were given honorable mention status.

Last week Harden became the first Bronco to receive AVCA All-Region honors in the last 20 years and the eighth all-time. She is now the first Bronco to reach honorable mention All-America status in program history.

"This is a great way for Liz to close her Boise State career, what an honor for her to receive," said head coach Shawn Garus. "Liz was the leader on the court that we needed this season. Like last week's all-region honor, today's announcement of her honorable mention status is well deserved for all the hard worked she has done over the course of her career. To have a kid recognized nationally for the first time in Boise State's volleyball history is big for this program, we have come a long way over the last four seasons."

Harden just completed her Boise State career helping the Broncos to their third-consecutive winning season at 17-15, a first since 1992. The senior rightside hitter earned All-Mountain West recognition this fall and was named to three regular season all-tournament teams including MVP of the Boise State Invitational on Sept. 8.

The Lake Forest, Calif., native finished her senior year with the fourth-best season all-time for a Bronco in kills with 415, ranking third in the Mountain West for kills per set at 3.49. She also finished with the fifth-most points ever at Boise State for a season with 448, ranking her seventh in the league for points per set at 3.76. Harden ended her Boise State tenure also ranked fifth all-time in career kills with 1,148 and third in points at 1,279.
