Erlam Places Third on 1-Meter Springboard to Lead Broncos on Day Two of Mizzou Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Boise State sophomore Marti Erlam took third on the 1-meter springboard and the 800-yard freestyle relay A team finished fourth to lead the Broncos on the second day of the Mizzou Invite on Thursday. Overall, eight individuals and four relay teams scored for the Blue and Orange who now have 245 team points, good for sixth place of 10 teams and a head of Mountain West rival Wyoming which has 228.5 points.Â
The Mizzou Invite will wrap up on Friday with the platform diving competition, as well as, the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay.Â
Boise State's A team of Molly Hogg, Carly Palmer, Beatriz Zoppei and Lauren Vitort swam a 1:43.06 to place 10th overall, earning 14 team points. The Broncos B team of Madesyn Ronquillio, Robin Pinger, Emmie Jennings and Madison Frederick placed 13th (10 points) with a time of 1:43.53. Both times recorded by Boise State's top two relay teams beat this season's previous best mark of 1:45.02.Â
800-Yard Freestyle Relay
Boise State's A team of Vitort, Emma Brady, Hayley Hill and Frederick turned in a 7:23.01 to take fourth-place and grab 30 points for the Broncos. The Bronco B team took 12th with a 7:38.43 as Lucia Davis, Jamie Nats, Katie McCoy and Tina Andrasek earned 10 more team points. Â
Erlam led the Boise State trio taking third-place with 282.80 points in the final round, good for 16 team points. Both Tatum Thompkins and Taylor Clark scored as well placing in the B Final Thursday afternoon. Thompkins (238.40) took 13th for four points, while Clark (219.75) placed 16th for one point.Â
400-Yard Individual Medley
McCoy placed seventh in the 400 IM with a career-best time of 4:20.39. Meanwhile, Lauren Yon scored one point placing 16th overall by clocking a 4:36.15.
200-Yard Freestyle
Bronco sophomore Lauren Vitort was the lone Boise State swimmer to score in the 200 free placing 11th overall to earn six team points with a time of 1:49.79, 6 points.
100-Yard Breaststroke
Carly Palmer represented the Broncos in the 100 breaststroke finals turning in a time of 1:02.90, a career-best, to take 11th and earn six points for the team.Â
100-Yard Backstroke
Hogg clocked a 55.47 in the 100 back to lead Boise State by placing eighth overall and collecting 11 team points. She was the lone Bronco to score in the event.Â
