BOISE, Idaho – Week Three of the NFL season will feature nine players and one head coach representing Boise State. Khalil Shakir and the Buffalo Bills start the action with a primetime showdown against AFC East foe Miami, playing Thursday night on Prime Video. The remaining Boise State products play Sunday, with three contests including multiple players. Ashton Jeanty and the Las Vegas Raiders visit the Washington Commanders to face John Bates and Jeremy McNichols. JL Skinner (Denver Broncos) and Scott Matlock (Los Angeles Chargers) will meet in a key AFC West battle. George Holani and DeMarcus Lawrence welcome Kellen Moore and the New Orleans Saints to Seattle on Sunday afternoon to cap the action.
THURSDAY
Khalil Shakir (Buffalo Bills) vs. Miami Dolphins – Prime Video, 6:15 p.m.
Khalil Shakir caught one pass for 12 yards in Buffalo's 30-10 win over the New York Jets. The wide receiver picked up a first down to set up a field goal that gave the Bills a 23-3 lead to start the second half. Buffalo is 2-0 and has totaled an NFL-high 900 yards of offense in those victories.
SUNDAY
Las Vegas Raiders (Ashton Jeanty) at Washington Commanders (John Bates, Jeremy McNichols) – FOX, 11 a.m.
Ashton Jeanty totaled 44 yards from scrimmage on 14 touches, collecting a pair of first downs. The running back recorded 40 yards after contact, 20 yards after catch and six missed tackles forced. John Bates made his second straight start at tight end, playing 15 total snaps before leaving due to injury. He was Washington's third-best pass blocker according to Pro Football Focus, earning a 75.3 grade. McNichols saw 16 snaps on offense and 11 on special teams in the Commanders' 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Jacksonville Jaguars (Ezra Cleveland) vs. Houston Texans – CBS, 11 a.m.
Ezra Cleveland started at left guard and played all 71 offensive snaps in Jacksonville's 31-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Cleveland earned a 78.5 PFF offensive grade, the highest among Jaguars who played more than 20 snaps. Jacksonville averaged over 5.0 yards per carry on the ground and totaled 271 yards and three touchdowns through the air. Through two games, the Jaguars are averaging a league-best 169.5 rushing yards per game.
Denver Broncos (JL Skinner) at Los Angeles Chargers (Scott Matlock) – CBS, 2:05 p.m.
JL Skinner tied for the game-high with 23 special teams snaps in Denver's 29-28 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He recorded a tackle on the opening kickoff, the 10th tackle of his career. Scott Matlock played 27 offensive snaps (46.6%) and seven special teams snaps in the Chargers' 20-9 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He earned a 82.3 PFF pass blocking grade, third-best on the team, as Los Angeles moved to 2-0.
Seattle Seahawks (George Holani, DeMarcus Lawrence) vs. New Orleans Saints (Kellen Moore) – CBS, 2:05 p.m.
George Holani scored his first career touchdown, recovering a kickoff in the end zone to help Seattle to a 31-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The running back also returned kicks for the first time in his career, compiling 133 yards on five returns, including a long of 32 yards. DeMarcus Lawrence started at defensive end and totaled three tackles and a quarterback hurry. The Seahawks limited Pittsburgh to 3.4 yards per rush and tallied a pair of interceptions. Kellen Moore and the Saints fell to the San Francisco 49ers, 26-21. New Orleans totaled 307 yards of offense.
