BOISE, Idaho – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen was selected as a finalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced. The award is presented annually to the nation's premier scholar-athlete. The fifth year is the first Bronco to be named a semifinalist since Kekaula Kaniho, who was recognized in 2020. Madsen is one of 18 semifinalists picked from a group of 206 semifinalists from all NCAA divisions and the NAIA.

Madsen obtained his bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Professional Studies in May, earning a 3.68 GPA while minoring in business. He is a member of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society and is a two-time College Sports Communications Academic All-District selection. He earned Academic All-Mountain West honors three times and Mountain West Scholar-Athlete distinction four times.

In the community, Madsen has been active throughout local schools, specifically with BroncoBOLD, a student-athlete-led mental health initiative. He is part of the high school ambassador program, which promotes mental health awareness at local schools, and participates in Chalk the Walk, spreading hope and raising awareness during National Suicide Prevention Week. He also partnered with Foster & Heart to organize a Toy Drive in the Treasure Valley.

A native of Lehi, Utah, Madsen has been one of the nation's most efficient quarterbacks this season, throwing 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He is 110-of-166 (66.43%) for 1,296 yards, guiding an offense that leads the country in time of possession (36:41). His career interception ratio of 0.018 (18 in 1,000 attempts) ranks third in school history. He ranks sixth in program history in career passing touchdowns (63) and completions (617) while ranking seventh in passing yards (7,882) and total offense (8,415).

Madsen has led Boise State to a 5-1 overall record and 2-0 mark in Pac-12 play, securing the No. 21 ranking in the AP Poll and No. 22 spot in the Coaches Poll. The 2025 Mountain West Championship Offensive MVP was named to the Pony Express Award Midseason Watch List with running back Dylan Riley. He also secured a Manning Star of the Week nod on Sept. 28 after throwing for 204 yards and three touchdowns in a 32-7 win at Western Michigan.

Madsen will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and be honored at the 68th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas on December 8. The winner of the 2026 Campbell Trophy will be announced at the event. The 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class, which includes legendary Boise State head coach Chris Petersen, will also be recognized at the dinner.
