BOISE, Idaho – Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen and running back Dylan Riley were named to the Pony Express Award Watch List, the organization announced. The award is presented annually to the best tandem in college football, regardless of position. SMU legends Eric Dickerson and Craig James created the award to celebrate selflessness, collaboration and true team excellence.

Madsen has completed 110-of-166 (66.3%) passes for 1,296 yards and 13 touchdowns while adding 110 yards and one touchdown on the ground. He hasn't thrown an interception this season and has the most attempts of any FBS quarterback without an interception. Madsen has completed 40-of-55 (72.7%) of passes in two Pac-12 contests, totaling 582 yards and four touchdowns. He continues to etch his name in the program record book, ranking sixth in career passing touchdowns (63) and completions (617) while ranking seventh in passing yards (7,882) and total offense (8,415). The fifth year was named a Manning Star of the Week on Sept. 28 and was featured on the preseason watch lists for the Maxwell, Walter Camp and Golden Arm Awards.

Riley leads the nation with 835 rushing yards, carrying the ball 127 times and averaging 6.6 yards per attempt. He also leads the country in all-purpose yards, totaling 998. The junior has six rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown and is the only player in the FBS with three rushes of 70+ yards. He has four 100-yard rushing efforts, including a career-high 206-yard performance against Memphis. Also featured on the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List, Riley was named Doak Walker National Running Back and Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week following the Memphis game. He also secured a spot on the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll after the Fresno State win, which saw him compile 227 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns.

Madsen and Riley have guided Boise State to an overall record of 5-1 and conference mark of 2-0, earning the No. 23 ranking in the AP Poll and No. 24 spot in the Coaches Poll. The Broncos are one of 20 FBS teams with a tandem featured on this year's watch list. Boise State and Oregon State (QB Braden Atkinson and WR Jesse Legree) are the lone representatives from the Pac-12. The Pony Express Award winners will be announced in December.
